Have any of you changed out your fuel sender / fuel pump unit in a 2005 Frontier?  I believe the sender and the pump are one unit.< ="text/">_popupControl();

Why change it out? You should still be under the warranty. Have them do it.

What is the concern? The sender or the pump? I believe the sender is available separate.
If and when you remove the tank, the harness and line accessable at the top of the tank do not have a lot of slack in them, lower the tank just enough to get your hand above the tank to disconnect the line and harness.
Also plan on replacing the 'o' ring seal for the unit.
One last thought, you most likely won't be able to remove the lock ring w/o the special tool!!!!

Unless there are some warranty provisions that are unknown to me, the warranty on the fuel sender/pump expires at 36,000 miles.  I have 84K on my Frontier.  It's going to be a do-it-yourselfer, and I'll have to obtain the special tool for removing the unit from the top of the tank.  My dealer wants $650 and tax if they do it.  The LIST price on the unit is $350, but fortunately I found a Nissan dealer in another part of the country who uses UPS to get parts to you at a substantial discount, like almost 30% off the phony inflated list price.

I have the same problem on my 2005.  This seems to be a serious issue with these trucks which Nissan is not addressing.  I got a qoute of $134.41 for the sensing unit unit, and $29.48 for the O-ring.  The parts dept. at the dealer I called know exactly what i needed, like they have seen this before.

They have seen this before and they are really pi**ing me off.  The dealer people all know about it.  This is enough BS to keep me from buying a new Nissan again.  In fact, while I was using a lift to fix my fuel sender, another Nissan driver came in with a "Engine Needs  Servicing Soon" light on on her dashboard.  Guess what the code was??  P0453 - Fuel sender voltage bad.  Nissan knows and they're being SOB's about it.  I don't know anyone with a Nissan of that era who isn't having problems.  Thanks, Nissan, you've opened my eyes about how you're turning in to GM.
