I've never owned a Nissan before, but after close examination of all of the mid-size trucks out there, the Nissan drove the best and looked very good. I am getting the SE I4 and was wondering if anyone out there could tell me how your I4 is doing for you. I only see reviews for the V6, which I don't really need. Plus the fact the V6 gets crappy gas mileage. I was also wondering what kind of deal you got on yours. Thanks guys!

I had the same issue with lack of reviews of the base Frontier prior to buying my '07 XE in Jan. of 2007. I have 17k troublefree miles on it and am generally satisfied with the truck. I have the manual trans for optimum fuel mileage and get between 20-23 mpg (city/hwy). I drive pretty moderately. These trucks are pretty basic (read: not terribly sophisticated) and coming off a '98 Dakota I was a bit disappointed from a comfort standpoint. But the Frontier is much more reliable than my Dodge was, so I can't complain. You're smart to get the SE as it's a nicer looking truck than the XE and comes better equiped, although my XE is pretty well optioned (something you can't do with the XE any more). If you have average needs and don't do a lot of hauling or towing, the power of the 4 cyl is adequate and the engine will wind forever compared to my old '90 Hardbody. As for price, let's just say that the truck market has been in a free fall for some time, so expect to get a great deal. I don't know how you're going to option your truck out, but if, let's say, MSRP is $19-20k, expect to pay roughly $5k less than that with all rebates and discounts. Good luck!

I regularly see 18-20mpg in my v6.  I have heard of people getting worse.  From my perspective, that mpg difference between your 20-23 and my 18-20 is worth the extra power and capability of the v6.

As to price, I've bought two brand new nissan trucks.  The first one I bought at 4k under sticker, second one at 5k under sticker.

If I was looking at a truck today, I'd consider a full size as the discounts are quite deep.  A friend of mine recently bought a 4 door full size (with more options) for about the same price I paid for my KC frontier.

Just my .02 cents.
