I pulled out my air filter to inspect it and found that is was starting to get chewed up into small pieces (in the deeper area of the filter box). I've heard of mice getting in the air box, can that be my problem? or can this be a design issue with the 4.0's in the '06 Frontiers.

Anyway, if it is mice, how do I keep them out?

I ordered a K&N filter to replace this one, I am pretty sure the mice won't like the oil in the fabric filter, at least those are my hopes.

Unless your airfilter was really old and just started to fall apart, it probably is mice. Find the inlet for the air box, and try putting some hot sauce or clorox around the opening. Clorox will definately work, but I don't know if the fumes would also mess with the sensors and make your engine run bad...thats why I suggested hot sauce.

Apply it liberally to a paper towell and rub it on the inlet of the air box. I would suggest using Tabasco Habenero, its some potent stuff!

..

Of course you could  get a mouse trap.

Or... Cut a wire aluminum window screen piece to fit in the intake side of the filter box.

Or get the cats out of the exhaust system to catch the mice!...

Well two out of three ain't bad...

Have a good one and see you later… Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State .

A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem. Or drink all your beer! One took my wife!... J/K
