Hi, I'm new to the forum and need some help with a gas mileage issue. Now I've been through the respective posts and found some pointers, but have specific questions, or maybe a specific question. Below is what I've been through with my Fronty and it's affects on my mpg's.
After purchase and for first year 18/21 mpg combination Shortly after 16/18 mpg Check engine light correction 18/20 mpg combination Three weeks later 15/17 mpg Rear diff sensor replaced 18/21 mpg combination Two weeks after 15/17 mpg MPG after vent control valve and clutch fan replacement 16/19mpg combination 2 weeks later 16mpg combination Couple months later 14mpg combination Last couple weeks 13 mpg combination
Now I've read that a tonneau cover helps and a K&N filter replacement. I've researched and decided on the BakFlip as long as it works with the Utili-Track, which I'm finding conflicting information on. But here's the question are we talking just a filter or an air box replacement? If it's an air box replacement along with the filter can someone point me to a site so I know what I'm looking at. I have a mechanic that will help, but I have to buy and find the parts as he is swamped. Also if anyone else has anymore suggestions I'd be extremely grateful, I know the whole ethanol in the northeast effects mpg's but 13mpg come on. Help me please. I love my fronty. I know the grille guard had an effect, that dropped it to about 17mpg mixed, but it's getting insane.
Just an FYI I have written Nissan regarding all the above work, but who knows how that will go as I had to pay for the last, vent control valve and clutch fan issue to the tune of $528.
