jon;

Welcome to the Frontier Group!

Well I did increace the size of my tires by one inch so if you have a 1999 Frontier 3.3 King Cab SE 4x4 you got it made!

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem. Or drink all your beer!

jon;

Are you talking about 16 inch wheels?

A. It is the diameter and width of the tire that you have to worry about for clearance not the rim size. Too small of a rim could rub the brake calipers. The wrong Back Spacing of the rim can cause problems.

B. Tires for 16 inch wheels as a rule cost more that those for 15 inch wheels.

C. Comparing 15 to 16 inch rim size tires of the same diameter the 15s will have a better spring rate and will ride better, and air-down better for better traction when needed.

i've got the smaller tires that come with my truck.

how much bigger/taller can i go with a tire and wheel set and not lift my truck?

Jon:

... First you need to know what size came on the truck when new. In most cases you can safely increase the diameter by one inch an the width by half an inch. It is possible to install larger tires without a lift by trimming fenders and inter fender panels.

... Didn’t they make two models of 2WD frontiers in 1999, a low street version and a lifted Pre-runner version? I have no concept of tire sizes on the low 2WD truck. The Pre-runner would have had larger tires the same size as the 4x4’s. Use the tire calculator, it’s interesting.

Laws such as the use of corn ethanol are driving up the cost of living (have you been to the grocery store lately) without driving up wages. This equates to a lower standard of living (but not in China) thanks to Agro-lobbyists and corrupt and ill-informed lawmakers.
