Hi hope i dont sound stupid or anything but a lot of people on this site refer to nismo. What is a nismo we dont use that term yet in my country. Does it refer to a particular model or something, or maybe is it just a slang term.  Thanks   Ian

well that all depends, NISMO is short for Nissan Motorsports, I believe, and it has traditionally been their racing development wing and performance parts factory division, or pricey gas caps, radiator caps, lol j/k. On these 2nd gen fronty's there is a Nismo model that is kind of their offroad set up model i believe, but not necessarily a 4x4...so you could look at it as replacing the desert runner here in the US, which if you aren't familiar with was the 2wd truck with skid plates and 4x4 suspension and ride height.

All nismo modles are 4x4 , come with danna 44 rear axel, E-locking rear diff, down hill decent aids, bilstin shocks, skid plates, and everything that the SE packege comes with.  ya some of it is just glitsy.... but its a fairly capable truck. Nismo is Nissans performance wing, and has played a major roll in performance with all nissan products since the early Z days even back as far as 84.  Some Nismo models can be equiped with higher performance Cams, Nismo makes performance heads for the the 350z and also better LSD rear diff's, along with the typical intake's and high flow cat's and cat back exhaust systems... its all expencive...

i believe you are mistaken in saying all nismo models are 4x4, because if you compare models button on the  site, you will see under nismo, it clearly lists 4x2/4x4 options for both king and crew, this is or the 2007 or current models, but i wouldn't know if the 2008 is only offering 4x4 for nismo.

Thanks for the info now i know. Over here Nissan factory enters Navaras, dont know what you call them in the US but when you open it up it doesnt resemble anthing like the one in the show room. EG, 2 shocks on each front wheel plus more. 2 years ago i think the Nissan hardbodys for the Paris Dakar rally were built here. Nissan offroad championships are big here in SA and nissan has won the event for a few years in a row, with Ford and Toyota also at te top. We have no NISMO as i know here.

I apoligise for sharing incorrect information, I have the 6MT and you have no choice with that transmition but to have 4x4 with the auto or... 5mt you ... can have a 2x4.... seams to defeat the purpos but what ever floats your boat.

ok, simplify, everybody here is correct. The NISMO reffered to on this site
refers to the trim package that NISSAN offers on their trucks. Every
country offers different options with that same package designation. This
has been the source of much malcontent for a lot of years now. The
highest source of grudge had been the lack of the diesels in north
america. But, what the heck!! TWO SHOCKS ARE STANDARD ON THE
NISMO PACKAGE IN AFRICA!!! SWEET!!! I've been to Africa and let me tell
you, that would make total sence just for a daily driver to have the best
offroad package available. All I could think about the whole time I was
ther was how badly I wanted my pathy ther to drive around. Lets just say
that roads are or a different standard than here.
Anyhoo, lets not overanalyze a simple question. We all know we all drive
kickass trucks and are very proud of them. I personally love customizing
mine with tree braches at 60kmh every weekend.

My two cents.
