Hello all,

Have had my black '07 Frontier SE 4x4 6spd for a couple of weeks now and thought it time to locate a good forum for learning more about these things. Looks like I found a good site.

I'm still driving my '89 Nissan pickup(bought it from my mom who bought it new) It has 160k mi. on it now and though it runs good, it's getting pretty rough looking. So I decided to get the new one now and being end of model year I got a great price. Finding the exact options and color I wanted was an added bonus(hard to do with the leftovers).

I, like some others here, researched a Tacoma(and I also looked into the Ranger because I'm an old Ford man) and just didn't feel the Toyota had as much to offer. And they're more expensive too. I'm satisfied I made the right choice. I'm really, really enjoying this truck(especially the 6spd, which was hard to find in my area of Va.).

Anyway, I've got something I'd like to get some advice on. I would like to install the OEM foglights(I've got a contact at a local Nissan dealer and can get them for a good price). I found the wiring harnesses taped up to the bumper brackets underneath. I would assume since they're there, all I need is the foglight switch that's built into the lever of the Nismo(and LE?).

So that's what I'd like to know- can I just buy the complete Nismo headlight switch lever and replace my existing lever with it?(service departments of my three local Nissan dealerships can't advise me because they've never done it).

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you will likely need to take that wpproach as the fog lights are wirted to only work on low beam (a problem I am still trying to remedy).  It would definitely be the easiest approach, though myabe not the cheapest.  Good luck.  Just a quick thouight.  Why not just cut out a mick bigger hole and find bigger and better lights and use the factory harness?  My bumper has them and there is still a large plastic shroud lining the hole.  Should be really quick.  You're cutting anyway, why not take a little more.  Besides, this would be unique, and that's the joy of it, isn't it?

SAR Tech,

Low beam operation is ok with me. I actually want them more to make the front end look better(though if installed, I certainly want them to work). And actually, I like staying with OEM parts if at all possible- I have this thing about factory accessories/performance parts. Plus I've spoken with a few people and apparently the factory fog lights are real good quality and a better choice than most of the aftermarket lights out there.

Thanks. I appreciate the reply.

I considered buying the lower end model and doing allthe upgrades myself as well, but hen decided that I was too lazy and didn't have the time, abition or energy.  The oem foglights are aimed right at the road infont of you.  Thye fill in the black space on the road between the bumber and the bottom of the low beams.  THey work great for offroad application where slow and steady is the way home.  Great for poorly lir poarking lots and the like.  And I would have to agree with your sources on the quality of them, I am impressed.  Just check out the crappy lights they puton the fords and you'll see the difference.  Good luck.
