Hello,
     I might possibly be getting a 2003 XE 4cyl soon and wanted to ask peoples advice on the truck.  Everything I have read says that are super reliable (I'm a Toyota owner so I always look for bullet proof vehicles).  I was looking at Tacoma's but they are hard to find and are very expensive even used.

They are asking $10,000 for a truck with 61,000 miles ... does this sound reasonable.

Is there anything I should look for when test driving the truck?  Any particular problem areas?  Also does anyone have a 2wd 4cyl and live in snowy conditions and have problems?  I live in Maine so we get a fair amount of snow ... I know to put weight over the rear axle, and would probably put snow tires on it.

Thanks for any info you can pass on about the truck.

I just got off the phone with the dealer today.  The truck was on the lot for $10,900 and he said he could let it go for $9,600.  It seems like a good deal to me but would like some feedback from Nissan owners.  Any thing you could bring up would be appreciated.

..

Big G;

You might stall around a little then see if you can get some kind of warrantte on the truck.

Four bangers should be better in the snow. Many people spin out from having too much power. I buy the bigger engines only for the highway passing power in  the steep Colorado mountains.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem.

Thanks for the info.  I doubt I can get the dealer to throw in a warranty because they are a Toyota dealer and just got the Nissan in on a trade.  I can try, but the guy who would be selling me the car made it sound like they were not willing to go any lower then the $9,600.

Is there any reason for the warranty (e.g. 2003 frontiers are problematic), or just peace of mind?
