I bought a track system from Yakima that bolts to roof without removing head liner (plusnut system).  I have not installed it yet, I hit a deer and my truck in in the shop till next week. I am having trouble finding fit info. from Yakima for a drilling template so I am not sure if it will work or not.  If it does it will be the perfect removable rack system, low profile tracks that you can adjust placement of or remove load bar towers.  I have a 17' canoe to haul.

Yes, I bought a track system too but I decided not to drill holes into the roof. The yakima tracks require about 8 nholes per track on a 42" track and I just couldn't see putting 16 holes into a brand new roof. I have some yakima towers if you are interested in buying them from me. They will need additional hardware to make them work on the tracks, however. Let me know if interested for your system...JT

Just picked up my new Frontier yesterday.  I needed the crew cab, and I did my rack homework early, so I ended up with the LE for the factory rack.  Anything without a factory rack is going to require drilling into your new truck.

I ended up buying an aftermarket rack from USracks.com that utilizes the utilitrack system. I asked them if they had plans for an extension that would go over the cab area and they said they were working on it. For now, it goes just behind the cab and is very stable. This company is in California and I got my rack delivered the next day after ordering it.
