I recently noticed on my '06 Frontier SE that when I have the A/C on it cycles every 5 seconds or so when the ouside temp is above 75F, but, below about 90F.  It was driving me nuts because I can feel it switching on/off through the gas pedal and brake.

I took it into the the dealership and they checked it out today.  They admitted it was odd, but, showed me a brand new Frontier XE that did the same thing.  I know it didn't do it for the first month I had it, but, it was really hot for the first couple of weeks that I had it.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Mine doesn't cycle, but I just noticed today that the AC was on all the time when the fan was on. The only thing i did different today was go through all of the air flow settings and when i turned it back to what i originally had the AC would not come off.  Turning the fan off will turn it off.. I'll see if it acts up tomorrow also. Hopefully I can find out the magic formula to cause the problem and have the dealer fix it.

the fan you hear is not the ac fan it is the oil cooler fan when you sit in traffic you can turn your air off and if it is very hot outside you will hear it kick on when you stop and kick off when you go and it also comes on if you kill your truck for a minute and then start it back up it comes on 5 seconds after running NOTE I live in New orleans where it is very f**king hot but it cools the oil.

Hmm.. I don't think its the engine fan. I assumed the AC compressor was the click because the air was cold, much colder than outside (~85F). I played with the knobs again, but could not reproduce.. i guess that's a good thing.. and i'm not crazy btw...

AC (seems) to work better in high humidity environments because it removes the humidty which drops the feel-like temp down ~10F and also cools the air. I live in the desert of AZ and on high humidity days my AC works great.
