The alarm on my crewcab keeps going off.  I have had this problem for over 2 years.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  I have had the truck to the

shop a few times but they say that they cannot find the problem unless the alarm is sounded.  I have had it there overnite and when the alarm did go off, by the time they got to the truck, the alarm was off.  This is getting to be a real nuisance.

I had the alarm system replaced.....all was good for about 6 months and now it is going off for no reason at all.  I noticed that when the sun'warmed' the exterior of the truck, at certain times, the alarm would go off.  It used to go off in the middle of the nite before I had a new alarm module installed.  It seems to be getting worse now.  I have asked to have it dis-abled but was told that this cannot be done.  It is a part of the electrical system.  I am wondering if a loose ground can cause this----when the temperature increases , can the connections cause this situation.

BoBo;

... Seems like my alarm sysem has it’s own separte horn. You might try disconnecting it. If that creates an electical or computer problem use a resitor or light bulb in place of the horn.

Have a good one and CUL.. Don S..

Since I wrote the last memo about my alarm, it has not gone off.....I know that it will start back, but can not find a reason.  I think the truck horn is tghe same as the alarm horn, so this cannot be taken out.  Any other ideas?........bobo

A connection might cause the problem, you might want to check for an intermittent ground or short.   Check for worn spots in the insulation of wires caused by rubbing against something.

A loose connector or a loose ground is what I think it may be...but shouldn't the dealer be able to find this easier then myself? It was left at the dealers for 2 days & they could not do anything until the alarm sounds off--only problem is, that as soon as the alarm went off & they responded to it---the alarm was off......Do I have the only vehicle that does this?   No technical service up-dates? So far, the alarm has not sounded in the past 2 months. Maybe I am cured? I doubt it, but time will tell.

Ripping that sucker out & replacing it with an aftermarket is probably the best solution----The only thing stopping me is the cost-----parts & labor gotta be big bucks............my $.03 worth.........................

SEEMS TO ME THAT THE BATTERY TO YOUR TRUCK HAS A LOOSE TERMINAL OR ONE OF THE CABLES ISN'T MOUNTED OR GROUNDED PROPER. USUALLY THE EASIEST STUFF IS OVERLOOKED COUNTLESS NUMBERS OF TIMES BEFORE A PROBLEM IS FIXED. THROW ON YOUR MICROSCOPIC GLASSES AND START FROM THE BATTERY THEN WORK YOUR WAY BACK. EVEN IF IT LOOKS GOOD, TIGHTEN IT OR INSPECT IT BETTER WITH A SECOND OPINION. I ALWAYS FIND THAT PROBLEMS LIKE THESE ARE BEST SOLVED BY THE OWNER BECAUSE HE IS MORE IN TOUCH WITH HIS OR HER VEHICLE.(IF YOU WANT TO GET A JOB DONE RIGHT, DO IT YOURSELF)

If my alarm starts to act up again--I will start from the battery & look things over.  If this doesn't work, then it is obvious what the problem is---it is posssessed.........bobo
