well i recently switched to mobil 1 full synth and have been paying attention to the drain plug to see if i was getting a small leak that sometimes happens there, now the reason i have been looking at this is that last time i did an oil change i forgot to put the washer back on and was concerned about a small leak then..but never saw one and never had a problem with a leak w/o replacing the washer, now i understand that they recommend you replace it everytime you change oil, but i suppose that laziness at the time took over cause i put the old one back on.and today while replacing front brake pads i found a little drop of oil on it....now i don't have a standard drain plug.i have one of those fram aftermarket ones that was the truck when i bought it i guess it's one of those ones you don't have to use a wrench on and can just pull out part of it to drain the oil, anyone ever have any problems with small oil drops w/o replacing the crush washer?, guess i'm just gonna hit the dealer up and get a new one like i should have the first time.

I wouldn't bother with getting one from the dealer. You can pick up a replacement washer for cheaper at a parts store, along with a new drain plug if you want. If the Fram setup is a 2 piece. Next oil change, I would pull it all out, and reinstall the base of it with RTV or a good sealant.

another quick question..gonna hijack my own post i suppose, especially since you were the reply kcidmil, getting a squeaky/chirpy sound as i drive...originally thought it could be the brakes, so that's why i changed them this past weekend, however, wondering if it might be the shocks cause you hear some squeak when i get in the truck and putting pressure on the suspension...it's not super loud..but it's just annoying and wasn't there before...like i said..a chirping, squeaky sound that seems to be there even when the suspension doesn't seem to be being compressed....any thoughts or experiences with this would be appreciated...

This is actually a common problem, there is some bolts underneath that slowly rattle loose. Pull up this thread portion (problems and tech), and bring up the past year's worth of threads. My old thread might still be in there.
