I recently purchased a 2005 Nissan Frontier SE King Cab with about 16,500 miles on it.  Just after purchasing the truck, I noticed a clunk/rattle in the areas where the front doors meet the rear suicide doors that happened while turning quickly or hitting bumps.  I took it to the dealer, and they claim that the metal cleats that the doors lock onto wear out and that there is currently no permanent fix other than putting felt tape on the cleats periodically.  The cleats are somewhat shiny where the doors hit them, but it doesn't look like hardly any wear at all.  Has anyone else had this problem?  If so, does anyone know of a permanent fix?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Brent

Are you sure it's not the seatbelt hitting the door?  That's the only rattle I have on my 05 King Cab SE

I didn't find info on this recall at the Nissan website.  Only the fuel cap thing.  I also googled it and didn't find anything.  It must be very new.  What does the letter state?  Is there a fix?  At any rate, that is good to hear.  It has driving me crazy.

It's a whole lock assembly replacement.  I had some good fun with it.  I picked up my truck after it was fixed and drove off to one of my accounts (I am in food sales) left my stuff in the cab and locked the doors (I didn't buy the power package).  When I came out to my truck to get in it I couldn't unlock either door.  The technician forgot to check the locks from the outside.  I ended up calling my neighbor who is the general manager for all the service departments at a local dealership who called the service manager of that store and they had someone out to me in 20 minutes.  They had to slim jim into my truck to open it.  Then I had to drive it back to the dealership to have them fix it.  The tech didn't hook up the locks correctly.  I ended up with a free oil change.
