Hello everyone,

Im new to the posting on the forums, but read much about your experiences and suggestions. Now I have a problem. Ive had my Supercharged fronty for about 2.5 years now and put on a measly 23k during college.  The good news is that Im still under warranty for any problems. Well just lately I experienced major sputtering/hesitation problems while driving and idling problems. I never threw a light at first but finally had the "check engine" light come on. Getting the truck to the local friend mechanic was a task on its own, 6 miles away and if I kept it under 2k rpm it seemed to run. Anyways it was the MAF that caused the light.  We cleaned it and did another test drive. No Go. So I call to find the nearest Nissan Dealer. 130 Miles (I live in rural montana).  I talk to the dealer and tell him the problems and what we have concluded. I also am honest and tell him that I have a FIPK kit on my truck and he says that Nissan will most like NOT honor the warrant and say that K&N 's filter caused the MAF problems. So I would end up spending a bunch for a wrecker to tow the truck and then $500 for the MAF and any labor out of my own wallet.  If I decide to forego the dealer and the tow. Get the MAF through a local mechanic, then if the MAF wasnt the problem I could not get a refund for the part.  So kind of rattled I called K&N and talked to many friendly people. Now K&N is pissed and I have been instructed by K&N to call them (a specific individual) immediately when I bring to truck into the Dealership so that they can "sort" things out with the dealer. Such as being able to test my old MAF and reiterate the law to the dealer about my protection as a consumer to be able to use aftermarket filters/oil without consequence of warranty. This has not been resolved as of yet, truck is being towed tommorow morning and I will keep everyone posted.

If you have any suggestions for me please let me know, Thanks.

I hope the dealership is willing to help me in this matter, because like every customer, the last place i want to be is out a week from a vehicle and needing repairs to stress about.

Dan

It'll be a hard one to fight.  The law states that the warranty cannot be voided using aftermarket filters.  But for actually replacing the intake tube, it'll be a tough call.  But if K&N is willing to rock the boat for you... I'd let them do it.  I personally find it very reassuring that they would be willing to stick up for their customers like that.  I've used K&N a lot, in almost all my vehicles.  I have yet to run across a problem from it, though did have a friend who had MAF problems with his Toyota.

Though I know the pain of not having a vehicle, and the amount of stress it would cause.
