Hello all, I have a 2001 frontier with the 3.5 v6. Problem 1... Water temp takes forever to get to normal. Problem 2....When it does reach normal, water leakes on to the alternater and only when reaching normal. Vehicle has 117,000 on it. Pump and belt were changed at 95,000 . I can't see where the water is coming unless I pull every thing off. Radiator seems to be hot but not temp gauge. Would appreaciate all input and Thanks in advance. Bill

..
If the radiator gets very hot quickly then it would seem the Thermistat is OK. The sensor or dash gauge may be bad. Try using a small camera to find the leak. A sligtly lower rated pressure cap and radiator sealer might help.
Good Luck Don S..

01 is a 3.3 V-6. If you know it is leaking on the alt.,
check for a trail from above the alt. Head gasket, water
pump, coolant hose, intake gasket?????

At least you have a brain, some days I really worry about
myself! In regard to your leak question, if the leak is
external it will not get into the oil, due to the fact it
is external.

Will find out tomorrow. Taking it to a shop and they are going to check it for $35.00 and then I will let you know what they find out. It didn't start to leak till I changed the plugs. Thanks

Well lokks like it is the bypass hose that comes off the thermostat under the intake. $112.00 for labor. They will be flushing the system and install new radiator. Have to order it first. Thanks for all the responses and all have a good weekend.
