My truck has a knock that happens when I start up the truck and take off forward. It happens after traveling about 50 feet forward. then it never happens again. It will come back if I turn the truck off and then back on it will knock again after driving forward. I can't figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas? The 4x4 works fine, my locking rear end doesnt seem to work although I dont ever use it.
Any ideas on what could be broken?

Are you sure the noise is coming from the transfer case???

It is coming from under the driver's side right where you sit. At first I thought it was from the rear end, but if you drive down the road a little bit with the door open you will hear the noise better and it is right under where you sit to drive the truck. the only thing on that side is the transfer case. So thats why I am assuming that it is coming from the transfer case

Hmm, if it happens just once per start up, and doesn't do
it again till you turn the truck off and then back on.
Sounds like the test cycle for the ABS. But usually that
sounds more like a buzz. I wonder if your locker does the
same thing, but since there's a problem all you hear is a
knock.

it isnt the U-joints I checked those last night they are still tight, back to the drawing board.
