Hello all, I bought this truck out west and shipped it
home to discover it has code p0011 for the variable cam
system. Simulateously, the engine, despite only having
50,000 miles, was full of sludge so bad the low oil
pressure light came on. I have disassembled the entire
engine, check all clearances and tanked all the sludge
out of the sysytem, and re-assembled the entire engine,
and cleared all codes. It runs great, but the p0011 code
will not leave. The timing chain is on correct, and has
been double checked 3 times by 3 of my co workers on 3
separate occasions. Has anyone ran across this situation?
I am losing my mind! Any help would be considered
a miracle on my end, THANKS!

movistar,
Where in NY are you located? How did you clean the
sprockets, solenoids, etc. for the cam control? Once the
engine is assembled, you may have to run a mixture of oil
and diesel fuel thru it to clean the sprockets, solenoids,
etc. I just finished a Titan motor swap at work, 48K, full
of sludge, smoked real bad. A lot can be said for
maintenance!

Our shop is right outside of buffalo. I had all the interal
parts hot tanked at our local race engine shop. Nissan
turned this truck down fir warranty due to the sludge.

Have you tried replacing the solenoids and sprockets?
