Hi Guys,

I bought this 2003 frontier, 235.000 km Manuel gear. good looking, we run into little trouble,

its a 2.7D engine, i runs max 120kmt, which i think seems a little too slow, even though we have lttle wider 16" rims and tires.  Any comments ? can i strengthen the pull of the speed pedal or something ?

When in idle mode, the car shakes like hell, idle just near 1000rpm, how can i ajust the idle so its like 1100 rpm ?

in 2-3 gear when i floor the speed pedal, the acceleration is not constant, is like it chokes a little when i fire it over 3000 rpm, and when changeing to 4 gear, nothing.   can it be dirty fuel filter ? and where is it ?

Thanks

Nakonama

I just check it,  i was wrong not 1000 rpm its about 600 when idle, and shakes like hell.

so the solution can be timing belt, what is that ?

on a motorbike you just screw a knot, and then the idle rpm goes up, is it not that simple ?

sorry i am not a car expert, hehe

..

Welcome to the group.

Timing belts or chains run between the crank shaft and and the cam. In some engines if they brake the valves can hit the pistons causing damage. Chains have guides that can wear out. Chains and belts get loose with a lot of engine hours. Nissan diesel engines are very few in the USA. I have not even seen one!

Hope you can keep it going.. Don S..

no its not that simple.. ive read that nissan charges 7 hours for the job.however i done mine in 5 hours from start to finish and i cleaned and painted the timing cover and brackets.. its a pretty easy job if you are somewhat mechanically inclined.

is it a gas motor? if so has it had a tune up?
