I am a new owner of a 2008 Frontier LE 4X4 with automatic transmission. This is the first Nissan I have owned. The truck has 32,000 miles on it. I have been reading a lot about problems with 2005-2007 Frontiers and Pathfinders that have had an issue with coolant getting into the transmission and some not so great dealings with Nissan customer/warranty service. My question is this - Has Nissan fixed this issue on the 08 models? If not, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? I have not seen anything regarding a recall or tsb for this issue. I did see something regarding an extension to the radiator warranty from 36,000 miles to 60,000 miles to help with this. Any info would be appreciated.

See Boomers post on this issue. Not sure what years are
covered, haven't seen any info yet.

The fix would be to install a second external tranny cooler.

Thanks for the replies. The website www.nissanassist.com answered my questions regarding this issue and the applicable warranty extension, as well as other warranty extensions. This was a great help!
