During the last three oil changes I have observed metal shavings in the oil of my 2008 frontier. My experience tells me this is a bad thing. I can't seem to convience Nissan to test the oil for me. I have about 45,000 on the truck. I have owned a lot of cars and Ihave never seen this before.. My dealer in Greely Colorado has largely given me the cold shoulder also.

I would find another dealer. They are most likely not
willing to help due to fact that you are doing your own
maintenance. There is a concern on this engine for
accelerated cam tensioner shoe wear(wears through the
plastic and contacts the metal plunger to the sec. timing
chain.) I have never seen metal in the oil from this, are
you sure it is not plastic filings???? Is there a high
pitched whine type noise that increases with RPM's?????
