just got the truck couple months ago  loud whine from rear diff looks like itwas run low on fluid  it took 1 1/2 quarts on saturday  pinion seems tight  was thinking it was diff bearings  any other suggestions?

The whine is from the gears, a growl would be from the
bearings. Regardless, it needs a diff or a rebuild if you
can find someone to do it. It may still be under powertrain
warranty if under 5yrs/60K from original in service date,
regardless of how many owners.

i guess growl or rumble would be a better word   got new bearings and pinion seal coming from nissan think me & my little bro gonna rebuild it thursday

OK not good news after we got the diff cover off.  broke the bottom 2 bolts.  but that is another story.  Don't know why they call 'em easy outs  aint a darn thing easy about it  Not a bad bearing  the pinion gear has about 1 inch missing from 1 tooth.  Frontier Guy i got a bunch of questions for u.  I was always under the impression that ring & pinion must both be replaced like a match set but why am i finding parts places online that are selling just the pinion.  and my book says slide hammer to pull the axles  is it really necessary to have one   any other way to get them out?
