Hey all. great info here on a great vehicle!!!

I have a 1999 4banger, automatic trans.
Since the weather has been getting colder, when I shift into drive when first starting the truck, it does not move. It goes fine in 1, 2, and R.. if I shift into 1 or 2 then run it for a short time (.2 miles or so), then I shift into drive do not have problems for the rest of the day.

At first was thinking the screen was plugged up, but doesn't seem right.

BTW, when the trans warms up and I check the fluid, it has the consistency of water, very thin. also has mild bubbles on the stick.

Any Ideas?

Has it ever been serviced? Is the fluid at the proper
level?

Fluid is at the proper level, but appears to be thin.
I've never had it serviced.
Heard it thru the grapevine that if you have not been changing the fluid regularly, then it is better to not change the fluid. I think the theory is that after a certain point the belts get worn and the grit in the fluid helps it keep from slipping.

We've had some warmer weather here and it definately happens every time when it is cold outside. if it is warm, then it does not always happen.

BTW about 160k miles on the truck.
