I've been searching the board and google. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a clutch problem. I lost my clutch on my 05' Frontier last week @ 62k. My regional representative called the dealer fixing my truck and they cited use and misuse/ regular wear and tear.

I've been driving manual transmissions since I got my driver's license at 15 and come from a history of mechanics. I've never even owned an automatic vehicle. The clutch was very short when I bought it and I didn't realize it until I drove other Nissan Frontiers. Up to that point I thought it was just the way Nissan's were made. I'm very disappointed in the dealer. I own a Nissan, my brother owns a Nissan, and my parents own a manual Nissan 09'.

On a sidenote, my parents discovered engine shavings in their oil when they were changing it. My dad collected the oil samples and the dealer refused to send them in for diagnostics even though the vehicle is under warranty.

I'm dissappointed in the dealership that is replacing the clutch for throwing me under the bus with Nissan after I explained to them that the clutch was never perfect when I bought it. I realize I should have taken the vehicle in sooner and I accept responibility on that end.

I won't be buying another manual Nissan Transmission. Or Nissan Truck in General after losing my clutch and discovering 4 recalls on the vehicle. Good lord, one would think I bought a Toyota. lol

Hey, what's wrong w/ Yotas???? The clutch disc is normal
wear, but they could claim a failed pressure plate that
is
covered for5/60 although you are out, they could file for
Goodwill if they wanted to. The metal in your dads may be
due to the secondary timing chain tensioner shoes worn
through and the plunger is riding the the chain. Should
be
a high pitch noise while revving engine. There is a TSB
for
that and covered for 5/60. May want to visit another
dealer.
PS I'm coming from a 96 Tacoma w/ 156K, original clutch,
and still trying to get used to the clutch on my 08
Frontier after almost 3 yrs!!!!

Thanks FrontierGuy. So I picked up my truck today. The dealer said they told the Nissan representative the clutch needed to be replaced and the flywheel was fine. There was no speculation on their part as to why the clutch failed. Then that was the end of the conversation.

Indeed it wasn't the dealer, it was the regional representative that cited the reason that offended me. I'm sure it wasn't her intention to upset me either. She was probably just sitting in her cubicle reading it off a computer screen.

I realize that a clutch is a wear and tear item on any vehicle but when I purchased the vehicle brand new 2/3 of the clutch had no reisitance and the bottom 1/3 took a significant amount of pressure. I realized that not all Nissans have the clutch I had after driving my parent's 09' 4 years later.

The dealership did everything right. I also need to clarify that a Nissan dealership in Colorado refused to run the oil samples on the 09. The Wyoming Dealership that replaced my clutch and fixed my recalls gladly took them, and even fixed the sensor for the drivers side air bag free of charge.

I love my truck. I'm a firefighter and I have lived in this truck since I bought it. My first car was a Mazda and had over 100k on the original clutch as well frontierguy, so I was shocked to see this truck's clutch fail so fast. I was just making light of all the Toyota recalls involving the accellerator etc...

As someone who drives fire engines for a living I was indeed offended that the representative insinuated that I had been negligent driving my vehicle.

A simple, "I'm sorry, the clutch isn't under warranty and there's simply no assistance we can provide at this time." Would have been better. Instead of he said, she said, ending in me, the owner, and client being thrown under the bus and having a bad experience.
