I recently purchased a Nissan Frontier 2011 SV with
premium utility package. The 6-CD changer won't play WMA
files. It plays MP3 and WAV files just fine but won't
play WMA. Nissan claims it plays MP3/WMA. I tried burn
the WMA on different brands of cds and tried a few
softwares and still no luck. The WMA cds works on my
computer and my other car. I brought my truck to the
dealership and they couldn't figure it out. They even
tried my WMA cds on another 6-CD changer and still
wouldn't play. I called the 800-NISSAN1 hotline and they
are no help at all. One of the rep said the 6-CD changer
on my truck has the WMA playback capability but Nissan
did not program it to play. That's the most ridiculous
explanation I even heard. Does anyone have the same
problem on their Nissan car or truck? I don't want to
convert all my WMA files into MP3. I have hundreds of
them. Thanks for the help in advance.

WOW!!!! Life is getting way too technical! Just got back
from Juke school and this was mentioned briefly, but it
didn't sink into this 56 yr old brain(I don't even own a
cell phone). I am off work until Mon., I will check my
notes and get back to you unless someone else has info.

This is from one of the other technicians, when burning
CD's need to use fat 32 format, whatever that means.

Thanks for the reply. I actually just figure out what's
wrong. The 6-CD charger won't play any WMA file with bit
rate lower than 32kbps. My WMA files on the CD were 16kbps
bit rate so it didn't play. It's a shame that Nissan
program it that way. Even my $50 old car player plays
them. Now I have to convert more than 500 WMA files to
higher bit rate and burn them again on CDs. Anyway, thanks
for the help.
