I have a 2005 frontier with over 105,000 miles and I have been getting a foggy windshield, the defrost is not working and the inside smells like antifreeze. I noticed that coolant has been dripping/leaking on the floor inside the passenger compartment for the past few days. Is this the heater core or a leaking hose?

Can anyone give me an idea on what it would take to replace the heater core? How much it would cost? How much labor/ time is involved?

Also once the leaking stops, is there any way to get rid of the coolant smell?

I'm not sure about how to change the h/c in a frontier,
my dad changed one in a caravan and he had to remove the
entire dashboard...wasn't fun.

As far as the smell goes. My advice would be to remove
the carpet and padding on the passenger side. Clean it
really well with some carpet cleaner stuff and let it dry
COMPLETELY. I had a leak on my driver's side and I did
this. Mine was only water but the idea is the same. If
you don't let it dry completely, you will get a "moldy"
smell in a short time. I drove without carpet on the
driver's side for about 3 weeks until I was sure it was
dry. Good luck!

According to All-Data, it is a 6.6 hr job. Also replace the in-cabin filters when replacing the heater core due to coolant contamination.
