I have a 2007 Nissan Frontier Club Cab with 4.0 liter engine and automatic transmission. I have a noise in the rear of the truck that sounds like slack in drivetrain. to me it sounds like the rear end has slack in it or the driveshaft is moving up and down. Because of the weather I can't get under it right now. Has anyone had the same problem. Any Idea's. Thank you

Is this something you just noticed or has it always done it? How does the fluid look, any moisture in it? Also check the vent to see if the cap is free(not stuck due to rust intrusion). These rear diffs do have quite a bit of excessive play in them.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">

I bought the truck used, it had only 12,000 miles on it and I have had it about two months. So I only know it has done it since I bought it. I get off and back on the gas in traffic I can here a clunk like there is slack in it. It has been snowing here for 4 weeks off and on and I don't have a place to get under it and check anything out right now. I soon as I can I'll try. Thanks for the tips, i'll check them. I just thought some who have owned there's for a while may know the problems. It might be a common problem..

I get a mild version of this in my 2007 depending on how I get on and off the gas.  Usually just indicates some play between the ring and pinion gears.

I thought that was probably my problem, since I haven't had it that long I really haven't had a chance to check it out. If the weather breaks I'll try. Thank you for the info.
