Since I've bought my Frontier brand new a little less than 2 years ago, I've had problems with the clutch twice now. The first time it was around 13K miles. I took my truck to the dealer because the cruise control was acting funny, and they told me that something was very wrong with the clutch. They replaced it for me even though it was just outside warranty. Now I'm sitting at around 27K miles, and my clutch completely burned out on me the other day. I had my cousin who manages a repair shop take a look at it and he said the clutch is totally destroyed in there, almost looks like it was shredded or something. The flywheel needs to be replaced too. I've been driving stick for over 8 years now so I know it's not something that I'm doing. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Well there's a few other possibilities other than your driving.
Defective clutch/pressure plate. Improper installation, but being that you've gone through 2 already, I would say either your slave or master cylinder is leaking internally. So when you go to shift and press on the clutch it's not fully disengaging.

Used to be clutches weren't warranted due to the fact Nissan has no control on how a clutch is used or miss used. I just replaced a clutch assembly in an '09 Frontier-it was shreaded- replaced it under warranty with over 20,000 miles. What did your dealer say the warranty is-12 months/12,000 miles? My warranty clerk says they are covered under power train warranty??? Might want to double check with your dealer-have him show you in writing or look in your owners manual.

Just went out and looked at my warranty manual- it states that the "clutch cover" (pressure plate) is covered under power train warranty for 5yrs/60,000 miles. All the dealer has to do is write the warranty claim so the cover is the primary failed part. Go see your dealer with your warranty manual in hand!!!!!

I've had the same exact issue. Replaced clutch and flywheel at around 15K miles. I was told it was not under warranty. The truck is back in the shop today having a new clutch put in... 35K miles. I'm not happy. Are we seeing a problem here with clutches?

I have said before that when I looked at buying a Frontier, I could not believe how light the pressure was that put the clutch pedal all the way to the floor! I could press it all the way down with literally one toe. I decided then and there that this was a system that would not hold up and went with the auto trans. Since then, I have spoken to a number of Frontier owners with sticks who have burned out clutches.
My opinion: there is not enough pressure holding the cltch face to the flywheel when the pedal is all the way out. The clutch slips when you accelerate or go up a hill. TOAST!!

I really hate to say it, but, the most likely culprit is the driver. It took some getting used to on my '08 coming from a '96 Tacoma!!!!! But with 26K on it now, I've had no concerns other than learning how to use a clutch all over again, they are different!

Boomer, Boomer ,Boomer as you know, it is all in the leverage that makes the clutch feel light. I have hauled some very large loads of firewood with no clutch slippage at all. I still say it is driver that is the culprit!!!
