Hey guys,

I have a 2000 Crew SE with 83K.  I have a hill to climb to work and back.  At the top of this hill there is a 4 way stop and there are times where the traffic is backed up halfway up the hill.  It seems that when I stop and go in this line of traffic I start to smell a hot clutch.  I am hoping that this is just a coincidence and that I am following the same car with a clutch problem home every day.  Has anyone else experienced these fumes before?  Is my tranny about to blow?  I checked the fluid level about a week ago and it looked good and I just had a tranny service at 79K

Thanks for your input.

..

mrbrown09;

... Servicing the Automatic Transmission normally means less than half the old oil is being replaced. The best idea would be to do it again and add a Automatic Transmission Cooler. I have added coolers to all three of my 4x4s. I do a lot of mountain climbing and the ATs do get warm.

I have an article about mounting a cooler at;

link> MOUNTING A TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER

The article was written for Full Size Jeeps but it has a good explanation of the principals involved.

Happy Holliday Season

Have a good one ;) and CUL.. lakota
