Well I've been searching through all the forums and could not find an answer.  My owner's manual only lists capacity for the 4X4 which I'm assuming is different, but maybe not?  I've got a Chilton's that lists it at 2.something but It'd be nice to confirm that.  I'm changing over to full synthetic in the rear diff and tranny.  I think my truck model and year is in my signature but just in case- 2000 V6 Desert Runner 4X2.

Thanks.

...about 3 quarts, apparently.  Put synthetic in the trans and the rear diff, will report any change in MPG.

Kredge, generally you fill these things (manual trans and diffs) until oil runs out the fill hole.  I would assume it is the same for your truck.  I use only Mobil 1 75W-90 gear oil in my rear diff in my 2007 SE 4X4 and Mobil 1 5W-30 in the engine. In the front diff, I use the semi-syn Valvoline 80W-90.  I know in my truck, they recommend replacing the washers on the fill plugs each time.  You might check on this for your year truck.

Yeah untill it spills out of the fill hole but it's nice to have the right amount of oil waiting nearby.  In my case the difference between the 4X4 and my 4X2 transmission is quite a bit so I didn't want to have to buy a bunch of oil and then have to return the difference.

The Chiltons manual had the right specs, by the way.
