Have frontier 2003 4 cyl.  with a check engine light on.  The code is P0455 evap. canister code.  I replaced the gas cap with a SLANT brand from my local Advance Auto.  The code came on again.  I am wondering if the gas cap has to be a Nissan Oem in order to work properly.  I checked some of the other suspect items to trigger the code/ ie.  canister volume solonoid (ok)  and vent sensor (ok).  Hate to take it to the dealer.

Suggestions re: the OEM gas cap theory appreciated.
