well, it's been a very long time since my last visit and post. Got kicked off the site for some reason and couldn't log in. I was wondering if anyone has seen the ridiculously long posts concerning the oil tech talk?
I had been posting my results from my lab analaysis of Amxoil ASL 5W30 and wanted to update with the last one. Maybe the thread went dead or it was banned not sure. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll post the last results before I dropped the oil out.

I'm using Amsoil 100% synthetic high performance in my '08. Got about 3400 miles on it now(6400 total). Plan on changing the filter every 6000, the oil every year or 12-15,000 miles. First time I've ever run a synthetic in one of my vehicles other than a motorcycle. Curious as to your results.I drive about 12 highway miles one way to work, use the truck in the woods for firewood gathering, and an occasional 5.5 hour trip to Mass. to visit the daughter.

well, here are the actual nu,bers, but I hope you can sift through the data without the original info. I ran the oil a full year (short by 6 days) and drove it hard in all conditions (logging roads every weekend, highway, city, commute, winter, fast, heavy loads etc) and I would do it again. I call the experiment a success and stand by Amzoil's claims of their longevity from that grade of oil. I chnage the filter every 6,000 km and replaced the volume required for the test bottle and filter change (410 mL). I could go very deep into the test run, but that would really annoy a lot of peopel reading this, so please ask specific questions and I will answer them plainly. Hopefully avoid as much confusion as possible.
Al - 7 Cr - 1 Cu - 30 Fe - 15 Sn - 1 Pb - 5 Si - 48 M0 - 68 Ni - 0 Ag - 0 K - 1 Na - 66 (flagged by lab as upper limit) B - 101 Ba - 0 Ca - 3130 Mg - 14 Mn - 27 P - 763 Zn - 910 viscosity @40 deg C - 50.4 viscosity @100 deg. C - 9.6 soot - 0 OXD - 0 NOX - 31 COX - 31 SO4 - 8 ZDDP - 0
I did not getthe oil analysis done when I dumped it, so ther is one OCI missing from my records.

.Not that I have a clue what is good or bad according to your results, but you seem quite happy with the results. Thanks so much for the info.

yeah I know. Sorry about that. Like I said, there is lot of history behind this post and the rest seems to have been deleted at some point. I have never analyzed oil before so I guess I am happy with t resluts. The only factor that was flagged as being out of safe limit was the Na. It was like the the very forst oil change. It did not really change until the very end so I am thining that there is a tiny trickle of coolant getting inot the oil. It only chnaged by 4 ppm in 40,000 km though, so not enought to even measure in the rad.
To help quickly, the first 6 on the list are the wear metals found in the engine. Si is from dust and the rest are the additive package in each oil.

Quote of the Week 'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.' Thomas Jefferson 1802
