First off I own a 2005 Frontier King Cab. I was on here in mid-September because I needed to replace my blower motor resistor. It fixed the problem I was having but now 3 weeks later the resistor went again. Could it be a faulty part or something further up the line? If it's not the part, how can I test my truck to find out what it is?
I know most auto parts stores have code readers that they'll use on your vehicle. Would this be something that could be picked up on that sort of machine?

Marcia, if the resistor wasn't too much, try another. An replace the fuse to the circuit just in case the fuse is bad and not blowing out from a high current draw. Go to a NAPA distributor or a Nissan dealer to get the resistor. there are lots of cheap, junky Chinese parts in the system and that may be aprt of your problem.
If it blows again, then I am at a loss except to say that you will need to start doing some electrical detective work with a multimeter.

If the blower motor is going bad, it will create too much resistance, causing the resistor to burn out. Are you beyond the 3 yr/36,000 mile mark??

This past May 2008 has been 3 yrs since I got the truck but I'm only at 31,000 miles.
Of course when the resistor is blown the only fan setting that works is # 4. Although this time when I turn it on to # 4 I get a high pitched squealing noise from behind the glove box (which is where the blower motor is). This noise last for just a few seconds and then disappears.

..
The Motor bearings are probably bad and drawing too much currant and over heating the circuit. Most bearing are sealed but it is possible to work oil into them. And I have drilled a small hole to the rear bearings of sealed motors in order to get oil to them. I’ve save many electric motors this way
Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..
We’re only at the top of the food chain as long as the diesel trucks keep running.

Well, it's taken me a while to get back here. I finally got the money to replace the resistor ($55) and blower motor ($200). I installed it myself and so far it's been a week and still working. I just have one question....in the process of putting back the blower motor I overtightened two of the three screws. Now you have to understand that everything is plastic and the screws are metal, so it doesn't take much to do what I did and strip some of the plastic. When I noticed what I did I had a choice of either blue Locktite or thread tape. I chose the tape and wrapped the screws and put them back. Will this hold against vibrations or should I do something else to keep the screws more secure?

You should be good to go w/ the tape.
