Well if you think you can tackle it, make sure you have a chiltons or other service manual. Read up on it before you try to tackle it. If you're still up to it, start removing the dash.
Call ahead to a Napa or other parts store and see if they have one on hand. Napa carries them for $340ish, courtesyparts.com might have them for cheaper. Start taking apart your dash and working toward the heater core. Before you take it out, start up the truck (plug in your in Airbag stuff it all possible to avoid a code) and see if it is the heater core leaking. It could just be a loose clamp, or a leaking hose.
If it's the heater core, you can get it first thing Saturday morning and have it all back in by the end of the day. Napa usually does have a return policy, so if it doesn't turn out to the be the problem you can take it back. There might be a restocking fee, but you'll have to check with your local parts store.
