I didn't know you could get a new truck with manual hubs, must be something that isn't imported/made for the US market. In any case, locking in the manual hubs during break-in is pretty common practice.
I'm not sure about Nissan, but timing belt replacement at 60k is usually for extreme driving (abnormally hot temps, lots of stop & go driving, etc) and usually there is a higher number (90k plus) for "normal" driving.
