i found out why my 2000 frontier was over heating after a year of trying to figure it out............timing belt was put on back wards from the orginal owner and im the 3rd owner but it was  making the water pump  pump in reverse and i also changed the head gaskets and everything and its running great!!

Thanks for the update info... But I doubt that the timing belt could have been  backward as seen below:

Seems like the fan would also run backward with the water pump... but maybe I just need a little more sleep...

well the arrow on the belt was backwards from what it was suppose to be so my mechanic changed it out and changed the gaskets  and took the heads and has them cleaned but it has fixed my problem on my check engine light now the only thing showing up on the check engine   light is knock sensor and idle air control valve and it has not over heated at all
