Folks,

I have an 07 Frontier King Cab NISMO.  It came with the "technology package" which includes a "Vehicle Security System with Immobilizer".  Can anyone tell me for sure what that includes?

The key has a chip in it so I assume that's the "immobilizer" part.  But I'm at a loss for the "security system" part if, in fact, it's separate from the immobilizer.  The security system in the users manual refers to the system where the outline of a car with a key inside blinks in the dash where the speedodometer is, but no such animal on my truck (I have a couple other cars with this system so I know what it looks like and how it works.)  The only blinking light I can find is a small LED on the overhead panel right behind the sunglass compartment -- nothing like what is described in the manual or as in my other cars.

I'd appreciate any help to clear up the mystery!  I love my truck and this is a curiosity that just won't go away.

Success! The Nissan folks finally fessed up to the recall, although I had to talk with them several more times before they recognized the recall and that my truck was covered. They also sent a recall notice in the mail -- not sure if that was just for my truck or a blanket distribution. With that, the dealer (who recognized the recall immediately when I called) ordered the kit and installed it a few days later when it arrived. The kit included:
 
2 keys (the dealer also replaced the valet key although the recall only covers 2 keys)
1 controller assembly
1 control unit - IM
1 screw
1 cover- steering
 
Took them all day, but that included their normal "all around maintenance check" and a really good car wash for free -- my tires look new again!
 
My Frontier security system is now installed and working like it should (and they didn't botch anything while installing it). Thanks for your help!
