New to the forum so here goes.  I've had my 08 SE V6 4x4 since December and only just over 3000 miles (5000 km up here) on it.  So far so good and generally pleased.  No numbers yet but perception is much better fuel consumption than my 99 V8 Dakota.  The one thing I do notice is a significant driveline lash in the 30-50 MPH range - it clunks a lot when the power comes on and off, like in traffic.  It is especially noticeable when coming down from higher speeds and I'm guessing it's still in 5th/OD.  The dealer said this is normal and caused by the 4x4 drivetrain.  I'm on my 6th 4x4 and none have done it.  Any similar observations?

Also, I'm thinking of installing a K&N air filter (just the replacement element, not the full modified intake kit - I'm way too cheap).  Any experiences?

Tnx

my truck does that, its annoying,  it has made me nervous in the past but it hasn't blown up yet. i had the k&n filter before the nismo intake, changed the sound a little, little better on gas, untill you start hitting the gas to hear the sound. your probably thinking do that, but you will

I have a 2008 Frontier V6 4X2 and it does these same thing, "clunk".  I find it very annoying, not something I expected from a new vehicle with only 6k miles.  Passengers also ask me if the rearend is going out or what the problem is.  Most posts I have read refer to 4X4's, does the same "fix" apply to 4X2's also?  I did put a K&N filter in it, but really didn't notice any difference in performance or MPG.  Currently gets 20 MPG average.

I had this problem when my truck had that few miles... it now no longer does it/doesn't have this problem and hasn't for awhile.  I honestly think everything is so tight in there it is just seating in, though I don't know for sure.

My truck has ~36k on it now, and it hasn't done that since probably around 10-12k or so.  Also, I learned to sort of drive around it -- drive in a way that makes the truck do that less.  And then it went away.

Nissan checked my entire truck out around that time frame (for other reasons) and nothing was wrong, so I'm assuming its fine.  I haven't had any problems.
