I just bought a 2008 Nissan Frontier and now the Service Engine Light is on.  It came on today and the vehicle only has 1800 miles.  Please advise.  Thanks

Well since it only has 1800 miles on it i'd say take it back to the dealer you bought it from and let them fix it.

That crazy light can come on for so many reasons, but just make sure that your gas cap is on tight first, that is always a good one to throw the light off.

I would then go back to the dealer, with that new of a truck, you are surely covered under all of the warranties. As the truck grows, some of the exhaust sensors and the like drop off warranty (in all states but CA) so just read the manual real good for that. But at this stage, I would say, DEALER...

Like mastdog said, "check your gas cap first".  It sounds stupid, but the computer in your truck runs a vacuum test on the fuel system to see if there are any leaks.  If it doesn't hold vacuum, due to a loose or improperly installed gas cap or broken hose, etc... then it will set off the engine light.  Then, after the computer runs two more tests (full warm up cycles) and doesn't detect a leak, then the light will turn off.  This is the number 1 cause of check engine lights.  If after making sure your cap is on properly and tight AND you have driven it for at least a couple days, you still see the light, then take it in to the dealer.

Thanks all.  I did just that.  I redid the gas cap and a few days later the light went away.  This is my second frontier and I love them.

My wife's car has a separate light for the gas cap ---  all companies should do that, makes this sort of thing much easier
