Modern vehicles automaticly turn on the A/C in the defrost possition to help dry out the air to clean the glass quicker. they hook it up that way because we are to stupid to do it. It's just another way to waste gasoline!
I don’t use the defroster very much. What really hacks me off is adding heat to the A/C! We noticed in our 95 Quest, ’95 King Cab and ‘99 Frontier heat was flowing automatically when the A/C was running, how stupid is that?… I’m using extra fuel to cool the vehicle and the system is adding heat to it! Many other brands besides Nissan are doing this. I don’t know the answer to your question but here’s what I do to reduce the problem. I run the A/C wide open (max cold) and manually turn the compressor on and off. I turn the compressor off going up-hill and on during the down hill run… This seems to conserve power, fuel and seems to stop the heat flow.
I’ve thought about putting a adding a separate on/off switch to the compressor but worry that it might confuse the trucks computer causing it to go into self destruct mode!
Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..
Laws such as the use of corn ethanol are driving up the cost of living (have you been to the grocery store lately) without driving up wages. This equates to a lower standard of living thanks to Agro-lobbyists and corrupt and/or ill-informed lawmakers.

I guess you don't understand , there is no off to the compressor if the fan is on so is the compressor . So not to be rude but if you can't understand what I'm saying don't reply .I know about the "design"for the auto defrost . This is not that, it's that it runs all the time

OK now I understand.. "Does not matter f selector is in defrost" had me confused. Plus no idea which model it is. Is it still in warrantee?
Our volunteer Resident tech- moderator is out of pocket. But I still like “I’ve thought about putting a adding a separate on/off switch to the compressor but worry that it might confuse the trucks computer causing it to go into self destruct mode!"
I am not a tech... but i am a moderator.

It would be nice if our members would add their vehicle information to their signature (similar to mine) plus add their City and State . A member in the same town might be willing to drop by and help you with a problem. Or drink all your beer!

Umm... "not to be rude" but, the whole point of a forum such as this to to try to help someone. The problem didn't start with Lakota's response, it was in your original post. It was too brief, and when I read it the first time, I didn't quite understand what you were saying. Please don't respond with things like "don't reply", at least not around here. The fault wasn't Lakota's. Responses like that might make someone who would have helped you that much less likely to respond.

A little punctuation and spell check would have helped the first post too.

We may not know jack... but we try to contribute and try to be civil about it. I think it's about time for you to go and join up at Pirate 4x4... they will enjoy having you.
Someone here may have had the answer but not want to put up with you. If you noticed I moderated one of your posts so you wouldn't seem quite so obnocious.
Have a good one.. Don S..
