Does anyone know where the Intake Air Temperature sensor is located? I bought one of those chips to help with the gas milage and power, but the instructions do not tell me where my sensor is located. It talks about it being 2 leads, but not sure if the 2006 4.0l is 2 leads or many leads.

Please help.

I don't have a 2006...or a v6, but look on your intake duct work. go from the filter to the throttle body. there should be some wires going to a sensor somewhere shortly after the filter, that would definately be the intake air temp sensor.

the way I found out is I unplugged the sensor and ran my truck, the check engine light came on...then I went to auto zone and got them to check the code. It was the air temp sensor, then they cleared the code.

Just curious, what is this chip...and why do you need to mess with your air temp sensor?

I personally wouldn't trust any of those "chips". Messing around with the intake sensor can seriously screw up the engine.

If your chip is anything like the one my buddy bought all it does is "tricks" the engine into thinking the air is warmer than it actually is so the fuel mixture is leaner. That can lead to problems like shuddering and even choking the engine because it won't have enough fuel to ignite properly.... just my two cents.

I agree with nocturnaldrive,

Most of those sort of things are nothing more than snake oil.

I strongly recommend that you DO NOT use it.

He likely got the "chip" from eBay... I call it a "chip" cuz all it usually turns out to be is just a resistor. These guys that sell the chips have gotten smarter and started enclosing the resistors in plastic housing to make them look like they'll actually do something, so watch out!
