I know if I hallow out my cat it will give me a little bit of hp and it wil make my truck a little louder.  One of my friend's told me that if I hallow out the cat it will decrease my gas mileage.  Does anyone know if that's true or not?  Also, do you know any other little add-ons that will give me some more power?

I wouldn't hollow out your converter... you'll want to keep the truck street legal as much as possible cuz you never know, right?

Check out Magnaflow's catalytic converter, it adds hp and a little torque without sacrificing your mpg

I'm still awaiting dyno sheets for Magnaflow's "Hi-Flow" cat.  I've seen actual dyno results for brand new cats and the "hi-flow" and there's no difference.

If you're going to go through the trouble of hollowing it and essentially making it a resonator.  You minus well just take it out all together.  Good luck finding a legit shop to do it.

I don't know what kind of muffler you have now (I assume its not stock), but  I heard if you remove too much from your exhaust system the engine won't have enough back-pressure and you will actually lose power. I know that sounds backwards than you have probably heard about exhaust systems and getting rid of back-pressure. the way it was explained to me was that the  O2 sensor needs a certain amount of air passing by it to give the correct signals to the ECM. If you mess that up the truck will run like crap.

Not to mention that if you hollow out the cat your truck will not be legal and will not pass emissions tests. Personally, I wouldn't do it. Even if your local government does not currently require emissions tests they soon could.
