Has anyone had trouble with their fan controls?  The other day I tried to turn on the heat and found that my fan only runs on the highest setting (4).  1 - 3 are all dead as if the AC/Heat was off. 

Anyone else had this problem?  More likely a switch issue?  Or is it a relay that leads to a fan control that I can check?

Resistor block eh?  Is that in the switch or is it part of something else?  I'll check my haynes manual.  It's just called a resistor block, eh?

If you give me your vehicle information, I can look up part number and replacement procedures.

Year
Model (XE, LE ... etc)
Engine (V6 or I4)

Also, usually Napa or some other parts store might be able to get the part.

I found the fan resistor in my electrical diagram in my haynes book.  Looks like that's the right item.  Advanced Auto Parts was able to order it for me.  So it's on its way.  I couldn't find anything in my haynes book that identified where the fan resistor is located.  So I figured I'd take the controls out of the dash and follow the wires until I find it inbetween the switch and the blower. 

But if someone already knows where it's located and can save me some headaches, that'd be great.

My truck is:

2000 Frontier, SE, v6 3.3

Behind the glove box, near the blower motor. 

It might possibly be mounted inside the ducting.  Not to the point where you have to remove any pieces.  Most companies today mount them onto the ducting using 4 screws, with the resistors inside the ducting to help keep the resistors cool.  It's easy to identify in most cases, having 5 wires or so going into a connector.

I thought about that, but for $28 I figured I'd just put a new one in.  Not worth the headache if my solder came loose.

Ohh.. and an update.  The fan resistor fixed it.  It was easily accessible on mine directly behind the glove box on the bottom side.  I was able to reach up from the floor to replace it.  Took about three minutes.
