Being new to Nissans, I see that there are specific auto trans fluids that Nissan insists are required.  My Frontier, I believe, calls for a J fluid.  Just out of curiosity, I Googled this and found that Valvoline Maxlife says it can be used in place of Nissan J, D and K fluids.  ANybody know anything about this?

Can Mobil 1 ATF fluid be used?

I am sure it'd be fine, I am using castrol synthetic blend (Multi-vehicle ATF), now they have apparently divided it into import and domestic multi-vehicle ATF, and their import states it is Nissan Matic -D and J spec'd. If Valvoline states theirs is as well, then i would think it is probably ok to use. however, to double check, peek at your owner's manual and it will usually say Matic- D* or J* in your case and then below on that page it will tell you what specs it must meet for your tranny, such as dexron III or whatever and just find a tranny fluid that matches up with that. of course if it states specifically it meets matic-J requirements the better, good luck.
