Welcome to the group!
... The mud will hold moisture a longer period of time before completely drying. This dampness can permeate hairline cracks in paint and scratches causing rust. Mud can stop up the drain hole in the exhaust system. A coating of mud can prevent the proper dissipation of heat like the transfer case and axle housings. The mud can put physical pressure on bearing seals and electrical seals.
Remember the rule of thumb… “mud sucks - Rocks Rule!”.
... Some people smear Crisco under their trucks and some spray on detergent and let it dry. This seems to help in the removal of mud. Personally I take a detour. I also learned to avoid deep water crossings the hard way.
Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..
