It's your wheels "blinging"   jk.  If it was a ka24de i'd say check the timing chain guides...it's not so i'll leave it up to the vg33e experts.

My advice is to get an automotive stethescope and listen for where specifically the noise is coming from.  Do your rpm's jump around at idle?  How does the truck run?  Is your oil level up to where it should be?

I'm not trying to be a dick but with noises you need to be very specific when trying to identify them.

Nope rpms are just fine truck runs perfect just ticking annoys me. Im going to have to do some more research into it on my own I was just told that the 3.3 was bad about geting exhaust manifold leaks and makes a ticking sound.

on my engine I am getting a low knocking sound, i dont know if it is the same thing that you are talking about, but its been annoying me. Everything else runs perfect in my truck just like what you were saying but i still have that knocking sound. So i took it into a Nissan dealership and they told me that it was the knock sensor that was causing it. They also told me that this is a very common problem.

I get a ticking sound on startup for about 15 seconds or so and then it cuts out, usually. Not sure if this is the same as what you're experiencing, but if anyone finds something out on it, please let me know.

..

... I haven’t kept up with modern engines. But the old American push rod and hydraulic lifters could make a similar sound while a lifter was pumping up.

I’ve had several engines do it and didn’t seem to have much impact on engine life. This problem occurred in engines with 40,000 or more miles and/or engines with poor oil maintainace. Changing the oil or the blend of oil sometimes reduced the noise.

Have a good one while you can still laugh about it.. Don S..

If something I’ve posted on the Internet offends you please ignore it. If you don’t know how to ignore something on the Internet e-mail me … and I’ll demonstrate.

Well I have owned the truck since it was about 25,000 miles old and never let the oil get no older than 150miles past due for change.

Im still thinking that its a exhast manifold leak.
