Hello all,
I have a Frontier '07 SE Crewcab bought it new. The problem I have is that when I drive at 60+ mph, it just merges left and right on the straight street/highway. However, it doesn't do that on the curved street/highway. It sounds to me that the steering wheel or the front-end doens't get aligned right. I brought it back to the dealer, the first time, they said it was because of the low pressure in front tires. Nothing else was checked. It wasn't fixed. I brought it back the second time, they said it just the way it is. Nothing was fixed either. This causes my left arm hurts because I have to hold the steering wheel to keep the truck straight.
I know that it's not the way it is because I drove a few more Frontier SE CC '07 and they don't do what my truck does. Customer service called me and asked me how I felt about the service, I rated them all POOR. The next day, one of the guys from service center called me to follow-up on the problem. I told him that I wasn't sastified with the truck and I'm just about to call NissanUSA to file a complaint due to that according to the Lemon Law. However I'll bring it in again today for the third time and that's it. I'll file if it's not fixed.
Is it just me or someone else outthere has the same problem? Your reply is greatly appreciated.
And furthermore, the front seems really light when it goes into street bumps.
Thanks a lot,

It's a shame you had to go through that. It sounds like a simple alignment problem. Let us know if it gets fixed and who/where that dealer is.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYBODY.. Don S..

My truck tracks straight. Sounds like your dealer has not done right by you.
Make them fix it, or take it to an independent shop. Let us know how it
goes...sounds like a simple alignment job to me.

It's the Sterling McCall Nissan in Houston, Texas.
Alright, here's the update:
I came to the dealer yesterday, b!tching about it. They had a service marine drove the Frontier with me. He said he felt the problem and sounds like the rack and pinion is the problem. Alignment? No, they had it on the alignment system for couple times and couldn't find anything wrong with it. He is going to keep the truck for a few days driving home as his truck to experience the problem. I got a loaner Frontier LE at no charge though.
More update will be posted.

I also have an 07 SE crew cab. I took it in last week with 400 miles on it because the power steering seemed to not be working. They are doing a complete overhaul of my power steering. let them know that you have heard of similar problems and what other dealers are doing to take care of it. call me if you want: 440-477-4625.
I got a free loaner too: an 05 Altima. Do they have to give me a truck, or at least something with 4 wheel drive? I use it for work, and haven't been able to do everything i've needed to because of bad weather!

skogen1260, they'll have to give you what similar to what you have. Or you can ask for what you want. At least that's what I was doing from the last dealer stops.

Got my truck back, they said there were nothing wrong but I needed to give them 2 hours before I could pick up my truck. I wondered why I had to wait 2 hours if there were nothing wrong. They just said they needed time to put things together. Went to the dealer, they gave me a piece of paper indicates that there isn't anything wrong with the truck. However, they told me to come back next Wednesday for them to put the ordered bolts on my caster. I have no idea what that is.
I talked to the guy who tested my truck. He said eventhough everything looks ok, he saw the bolts were kinda weird mounted on the cross bar. So they ordered them and those won't get delivered till next Tuesday. They said they'll put them on and see how it performs.
They did something to my truck though. It drives different (better) than it was before.
Waiting...

For those that are not in the know...
... The three major settings for front end alignment are caster, camber and toe-in
Caster is a setting that helps the front wheels to return to going straight after being in a turn. Normally the caster is set by tilting the turning axis of the wheel a few degrees to the rear at the top. Too little caster and the truck will want to wander especially on flat roads with little off camber for drain-off.
Remember, not all service writers are experienced mechanics.

I've got an 07 CC 4x4 LB thats got a slight drift to the right. It will track
straight w/ hands off the wheel until I hit a bump, then it drifts right.
I strongly suspect it is only an alignment, I noticed it on the test ride and
made the salesman note the drift in writing, and include an alignment as
part of the sale.
When I got the truck home I found the tire pressure to be Low on the rt
front wheel as well as different pressures on the remaining 3.
I corrected all tires with a precision tire gauge and it is better, but not
perfect..... yet.
As of today the truck has 400 miles on it, and I will be returning for an
alignment in the near future.
**Ask your dealer when the last time their alignment machine was re-
calibrated. It makes all the difference in the world**
I'll let you know how it goes.

Billy V;
Welcome to the Frontier group!
When the alignment is properly set the vehicles are supposed to slightly drift to the right.
A. Most highways are built high down the center so that water and spills will drain off.
B. If a driver falls asleep at the wheel the vehicle will drift to the right away from oncoming traffic.
If you have a serious pull to the right it can be corrected by a good front end man.
Been there done that
