On the driver-side door, the catch mounted on the car's body is not aligned properly.  When I close the door, the door itself sticks out enough to slide a pinky finger in, when it should be flush.  I don't know if it's the door catch or if the door is out of alignment or what.  But everytime I hop in the car and stick the key in the ignition, it beeps as if the door was open.  The cab light is also on.  I can pull the door tight, hold it, and the beeps will stop and the light will turn off.

I don't really care too much about the light (I can set it to 'off' permanently) or the beeps when I get in the car.  My ultimate concern is that this issue drains the battery.  I drive a 2002 model purchased new, and I have been through 4 batteries.

No Nissan dealership seems to give a crap, ever; I dare anyone to direct me to a service location that actually cares about their customer.  It doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned.  I burned through 4 batteries in 3 years on a new truck, and nobody would so much as buy me a cup of coffee for my patience.

Anyone else been in this situation with the door acting up?  Can anyone point me to a schematic on how it should look?  I'm an engineer and confident I can fix it myself.  Nissan sure won't.

..

nola_green;

Sorry to hear of you door problem.

... Almost any mechanic or body shop repair man should be able to adjust the door. The door latch is adjustable the hinges can be adjusted or shimmed. There is a little rubber button in the lower rear of the door jamb that is the electrical switch. You didn’t indicate your location as I have in my SIG but if you live close by I might be able to adjust the door for you.

I have been in three Nissan dealership service departments in the Ft. Worth area. All are very friendly want my business. The only compliant I have is the rapid turn over in sales and service people but it‘s a problem all brands of dealerships have..

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYBODY.. Don S..
