 ok, got a quick question...having a coolant leak, which I thought could be near where the heater core was..but doesn't appear to be, i had the truck up on a lift while i was changing the tranny fluid and filter and front shocks but was unable to see it that way as well...any ideas...it's right side and towards the backside of the engine bay, i'm suspecting a hose, but even with an inspection mirror i haven't been able to locate it yet and just wondering if anyone has experienced the same issue and had any ideas on locating it, thanks.

..

Frontyfan;

... I hate coolant leaks. they lower the pressure in the system and that lowers the boiling point of the coolant. I had a similar situation with my V-8 Wagoneer. It turned out to be a leaking freeze plug in the back of one of the heads where only a mirror could see it. With the old vehicles that ran at cooler temperatures we could reduce the leakage by using a non-pressure cap.

... Try tightening the hose clamps, you may have to add worm-drive type clamps. If you can’t find the leak adding a small amount of dry powder type radiator sealer should work for a while.

Hope you can find and fix it.

Have a good one, and see you later.. Don S..

Have had a minor leak for a week or so when temps got low in my first year of ownership. Checked the hoses and clamps which looked decent (for an amateur like me). Went to dealer since it was still under warranty back then but leak was denied since service can not see an actual leak even with obvious dried greenish streak on the same area mentioned
I then went to a buddy of mine who have a tool for measuring pressure loss and results were negative. Observation for more fluid loss and frequent checks of fluid level was suggested. So far no leaks after that but I still carry a spare coolant and a radiator sealer (as lakota mentioned) just in case.
