I dont currently own a Frontier, but I am curious about its towing capacity. Basically, can everyone here provide pics of some of the heavier loads they've towed along with a little description of how far they went and performance etc.

If anyone has their boats being towed, that would be especially helpful.

This is a closed motobike trailer with a total weight of ~3500 lbs and a payload of 2600 lbs. It has its own braking system which works mechanically - when you brake and trailer moves towards the towing car, this movement is transmitted via mechanical cables and pistons to the brake - I think it is called "overrunning brakes" in English.

Towing is absolutely no problem with the Frontier 2.5 Diesel engine and the automatic transmission. Also long distances (~2000 miles) is no prob. Average speed with the full trailer between 65 and 90 mph, only the fuel consumption increases rapidly at higher speeds.

If you run long uphill sections switch off the overdrive, when going to steep roads lock the automatic at 3rd or 2nd gear, also when going down. Steep for me means >15% inclination.
