I have an '08 Frontier with the 4L engine and 6 speed standard. I've been considering hauling my Road King in the back out west and parking it somewhere while I explore the west on the bike. Just wondered if anyone has done something similar and what your experience was both good and/or bad. Thanks.

It's been awhile since I first posted on this. Just tonight I loaded my bike into the back of the truck which made it squat about 4" or so. I didn't have the best straps to strap it in so I didn't take it for a ride to see how it handled. But my real concern is if the truck can take hauling it from MA to CO. The sticker says the total weight for occupants and cargo should not exceed 1378 lbs. Estimating on the high side between the bike, myself, my wife and what we're taking along we're somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 lbs shy of that. Still, that's pretty close.

So I was wondering if anyone had done any long distance hauling being that close to the limit. If so, how'd it go? How did the truck handle? Concerns? Any similiar experiences or educated advise more than welcome. Thanks.

Usually I use my Frontier 2.5 Diesel Automatic to pick up a big Enduro Bike (KTM LC8) and all necessary equipment/luggage/wheels with me - total payload around 1200 lbs. I drove it several times on long distances (900-1000 miles) with an average speed of 100 mph ... so far no problems.

The truck keep on running straight ahead although the center of mass is rather high due to the long legged enduro bike.
